It isn't dryness. Your barrier is missing what it's built from.
Your skin barrier is a lipid matrix — ceramides, fatty acids, and roughly 25% cholesterol. It's the mortar between your skin cells. When it thins, water escapes and irritants get in. Every symptom above, one cause.
And you've been sold the wrong fix. Modern moisturizer is mostly water, held together with emulsifiers, preserved with what water needs to stay sterile. It sits on the surface, evaporates within the hour, and takes some of your own moisture with it.
That's the tightness at 4pm. That's why you reapply. That's why the next jar won't change anything either.
Plant oils don't rebuild it either. They carry phytosterols — plant molecules. Your barrier wasn't built from plants.
Tallow contains cholesterol. Very few topical fats do.
Its fatty acids — oleic, palmitic, stearic — are close to what your own skin already makes, so your barrier doesn't have to translate them. Raw honey draws water in and holds it under the seal.
Two ingredients, because a barrier only needs what it's made of.
